Thanks to a fifth place in Race 2, and a 27th place finish for his rival Mick Schumacher, Siebert is the new champion of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth
Monza 30/10/2016 – The Venezuelan Sebastian Fernandez (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) was first across the line in Race 2 at Monza after a fantastic race with the Mexican Raul Guzman (DR Formula) and the Estonian Juri Vips (Prema Power Team). The three led at various stages of the race until Fernandez, just a few laps from the finish, pulled away to take a 1.7 second win. Just off the podium was the Italian Diego Bertonelli (Bhaitech) and the aforementioned Siebert. Sixth through to 10th place were; the Guatemalan Ian Rodriguez (DRZ Benelli), the Indian driver Kush Maini (BVM Racing), the Dutchman Leonard Hoogenboom (Cram Motorsport) and then the Chinese and Japanese drivers; Yi Yifei (Kfzteile24 Mucke Motorsport) and Marino Sato (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing) respectively.
- The battle for the championship was effectively decided on lap 11, when Mick Schumacher was forced to enter the pits to replace a damaged front wing.
However it was still no easy task for his rival Siebert, who, after starting on grid 8 was involved in numerous battles throughout the race which also saw his wing damaged but not to the point that he had to pit to replace it.
- In the Rookie Trophy, first place went to overall Race 2 winner Sebastian Fernandez, ahead of Juri Vips, Rodriguez, Maini and Hoogenboom. The fight for the Rookie title will be decided in Race 2.
- Fabienne Wohlwend (DR Formula) continued her good form on the Monza circuit, winning the Women’s Trophy, finishing 16th overall and 8th in the Rookie Trophy.
- Race 2 results remain provisional and are subject to change.
- Race 3 (18 minutes + 1 lap) will start at 16:30. On the website acisportitalia.it/f4/informazioni-risultati/1106/Monza/2016 the complete results of Race 2 are available.
