Just 0.068 seconds behind was Kenzo Craigie. The Mercedes Junior Team driver for R-ace GP finished the day second fastest, ahead of current championship leader Luka Sammalisto. The US Racing driver ended the session 0.194 seconds off the benchmark.
Fourth fastest was Andy Consani, who had topped the opening Free Practice session that kicked off the Mugello ACI Racing Weekend. The French Mercedes Junior Team driver confirmed his strong pace around the Tuscan circuit, finishing 0.215 seconds behind the leader.
Fifth was Alp Aksoy of Prema Racing, with a gap of 0.224 seconds.
Another close margin followed for Oleksandr Savinkov (US Racing), sixth at 0.377 seconds, ahead of Niccolò Maccagnani, the Ferrari Driver Academy driver with Prema Racing, seventh at 0.387 seconds. Right behind him was another Prema Racing driver, Christian Costoya, the Spaniard from the McLaren Development Programme, who finished eighth at 0.443 seconds.
Ninth fastest was Arjen Kraling (US Racing), 0.562 seconds adrift, while Emily Cotty completed the top ten. The New Zealand-British R-ace GP driver will face particularly strong competition this weekend in the Women's Trophy, which features six drivers at Mugello. Alongside Cotty are Emma Felbermayr (PHM Racing), Zoe Florescu (Real Racing), Ginevra Panzeri (PA Racing), Payton Westcott (R-ace GP) and Rafaela Ferreira (Cram Motorsport).
With Free Practice 2 complete, preparations for the weekend are now over and attention turns to qualifying, which will take place later this evening to determine the starting grids for the first three races. Those races will then decide which 36 drivers qualify for the weekend's Final.
Qualifying gets underway this evening, Friday 24 July, with the first qualifying group running from 17:15 to 17:35, followed by the second group from 17:45 to 18:05.
Racing begins on Saturday 25 July, with Race 1 for Groups B and C at 11:10, followed by Race 2 for Groups A and B at 17:10.
On Sunday 26 July, the day opens with the A and C race at 09:00, before the Final, reserved for the fastest 36 drivers of the weekend, gets underway at 15:50.
All races will be contested over 25 minutes plus one lap, awarding full championship points to the top 15 finishers. Every race will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV, streamed on the official ACI Sport and Italian F4 Championship social media channels, and distributed worldwide through the championship's international broadcast network.
