AKM Motorsport announces the first names of the drivers who will hit the track this season in the Italian F4 Championship. The San Marino-based team will be present in the Italian series with two Tatuus single-seaters, driven by rookies Emanuele Olivieri and Oleksandr Savinkov.
Olivieri, 15 years old, stood out last November as the best driver in the Supercorso Federale ACI Sport held at Vallelunga. The Asti native is a fellow citizen and godson of Dindo Capello, a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
He is also mentored by Oliver Victor Kristensen (son of Tom Kristensen, who holds the record for victories in the Le Mans race with nine, three of which were achieved with Capello).
Olivieri is therefore poised to make the big leap from karts to cars, just like the promising Ukrainian Savinkov (exactly three months younger than his teammate), who will be present this year in both the national series and the Euro4 championship with Marco Antonelli's team.
"Emanuele has so far completed only three test days with us in Formula 4, although he has already proven to be very fast. I am convinced that he can play a leading role and easily fit into the top 10 - commented Antonelli - Savinkov has less experience, but he is also growing very well."
The AKM Motorsport Team plans to field a third car for another yet-to-be-defined driver.
